Bumex is a medication used to help reduce swelling caused by conditions like heart failure, liver disease, and kidney problems. It works by helping your body get rid of extra water and salt through urine. You usually take it as a tablet, starting with a dose of 0.5 mg to 2 mg once a day, and it can be increased if needed, but not more than 10 mg in a day. It's important to know that taking too much can lead to serious issues like dehydration and low electrolyte levels. If you're taking digitalis for heart problems, be extra cautious, as Bumex can cause low potassium levels, which can be dangerous.
