Lacosamide oral solution is a medication used to treat partial-onset seizures in patients aged 1 month and older and is also used as an additional treatment for primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures in patients aged 4 years and older. It works by stabilizing overactive nerve cells in the brain, helping to reduce the frequency of seizures. The medication is taken by mouth, usually twice a day, starting at a dose of 100 mg for adults or 50 mg for adjunctive therapy, with a maximum dose of 200 mg twice daily. It's important to know that this medication can cause dizziness and should be used cautiously, especially in patients with severe liver problems. Additionally, if you are taking strong medications that affect liver enzymes, such as certain antifungal drugs, you may need a dose adjustment.
