Paroxetine is a medication used to treat various conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder. It works by increasing the levels of serotonin, a chemical in the brain that helps improve mood. You take it as a tablet once a day, usually starting with a dose of 20 mg, which can be increased up to a maximum of 60 mg depending on your needs. It's important to know that you should not take paroxetine if you are currently using monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or have taken them within the last 14 days, as this can lead to serious side effects.
