View full FDA label ↗Prilosec OTC is a medication used to treat frequent heartburn, which means having heartburn two or more days a week. It works by reducing the amount of acid your stomach makes, helping to relieve discomfort. For adults 18 and older, it is taken as one tablet each day for 14 days, ideally before breakfast, and you should not take more than one tablet a day or use it for longer than 14 days unless your doctor advises otherwise. A key warning is that you should not use it if you are allergic to omeprazole, as this can cause serious skin reactions. Additionally, if you are taking certain medications, such as clopidogrel, you should consult your doctor before using this medication.
