Proxen NP 660 is a medication that temporarily relieves minor aches and pains, such as headaches, backaches, toothaches, and menstrual cramps, and it can also reduce fever. It works by blocking certain substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation. For adults and children aged 12 and older, it is taken as a tablet, with a starting dose of 1 tablet every 8 to 12 hours while symptoms last; you can take 2 tablets for the first dose but should not exceed 2 tablets in any 8 to 12 hour period or 3 tablets in a 24-hour period. One important warning is that it may cause severe stomach bleeding, especially if you have had stomach ulcers or are taking blood thinners. If you are pregnant, especially in the last three months, you should consult a doctor before using it.
