Riomet is a medication used to help control blood sugar levels in adults and children aged 10 and older who have type 2 diabetes, especially when combined with a healthy diet and exercise. It works by improving how your body handles sugar, reducing the amount of sugar produced by the liver, and helping your body use insulin better. You typically take it by mouth, starting with 500 mg twice a day or 850 mg once a day, and the dose can be increased weekly up to a maximum of 2,550 mg per day. It's important to know that Riomet should not be used if you have severe kidney problems, as it can worsen kidney function. Additionally, if you're taking other medications that affect kidney function, like certain diuretics, you should discuss this with your doctor, as they may impact how well Riomet works.
