View full FDA label ↗Singulair is a medication used to prevent asthma attacks, manage exercise-induced breathing problems, and relieve allergy symptoms like sneezing and runny nose. It works by blocking certain substances in the body that cause inflammation and tightening of the airways. The medication is taken orally, usually once a day in the evening, with doses varying by age; for adults and teens, the starting dose is one 10 mg tablet. It's important to know that Singulair is not meant for treating sudden asthma attacks, and it should not be taken if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Additionally, if you are taking medications that speed up the breakdown of drugs in the liver, like phenobarbital, you should be monitored closely while using Singulair.
