Sporanox is a medication used to treat certain fungal infections, including blastomycosis, histoplasmosis, aspergillosis, and nail infections caused by dermatophytes. It works by stopping the growth of fungi by interfering with their cell membranes. You take it in capsule form, usually starting with 200 mg once a day, and the dose can be increased to a maximum of 400 mg daily if needed. A key warning is that it should not be used in patients with congestive heart failure, as it can worsen this condition.
