Synjardy XR is a medication used to help manage blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes, especially when diet and exercise alone are not enough. It combines two ingredients that work together: one helps your body get rid of excess sugar through urine, while the other improves how your body uses insulin and lowers sugar production in the liver. You take it as a tablet once a day with a meal, starting with a dose of 10 mg of empagliflozin and up to a maximum of 25 mg, along with 2,000 mg of metformin. It's important to know that this medication is not recommended for people with severe kidney problems, as it can cause serious side effects. Additionally, if you take insulin or certain other diabetes medications, you may have a higher risk of low blood sugar while using this medication.
