View full FDA label ↗Invokamet is a medication used to help control blood sugar levels in adults and children aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes. It combines two active ingredients: canagliflozin, which helps your body get rid of excess sugar through urine, and metformin, which lowers sugar production in the liver and improves how your body uses insulin. You typically take Invokamet as one tablet twice a day with meals, starting with a dose of 100 mg of canagliflozin and 1,000 mg of metformin, and you can increase it to a maximum of 300 mg of canagliflozin and 2,000 mg of metformin daily. It’s important to note that Invokamet should not be used if you have severe kidney problems. Additionally, if you are taking insulin or certain other diabetes medications, you may be at a higher risk for low blood sugar while using Invokamet.

- Type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults.
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus in pediatric patients aged 10 years and older.
- Reduce risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
- Reduce risk of end-stage kidney disease in adults with type 2 diabetes and diabetic nephropathy.

Dosage
Take INVOKAMET: one tablet twice daily with meals.
Take INVOKAMET XR: two tablets once daily with the morning meal.
Maximum daily dose: 300 mg canagliflozin and 2000 mg metformin.
Not recommended for patients with eGFR less than 45 mL/min/1.73 m².

- Not for type 1 diabetes mellitus.
- Risk of lactic acidosis, especially in renal impairment.
- Increased risk of lower limb amputation.
